Yesterday M and I were driving around, running errands. I was on a rant about something. M. was chiming in. This is what we do. We rant and rave, drive around and shake our fists at the world and laugh at how ridiculous we are.
In the midst of this, M. said, "man, you're gonna make a great mom."
And I paused, and I held on to that. Because he said it without thinking. He said it naturally. He didn't wince when he said it. It wasn't tagged by an "IF" or even a sigh. It was just said as if it were a statement of belief. It was said like we used to say things to each other. It was said like he meant it.
And I have to belief that there's still a little hope in that sad little heart of his. And it was utter joy to hear it sneak out.
And he wondered why I wanted to hold his hand at the grocery store.
Awwwww!! What a beautiful, precious precious story! Sweet girl, I'm all teary over here now. It's those (not so) little things that mean the most; that keep us going. I'm so happy you got this little gem just now to help pull you through.
I am smiling.
Not much more to say, other than that :)
No more proof is needed that you are going to make wonderful parents.
After certain things that happen in your life holding hands has always been some kind of sign for me that everything that happens from here on in, we're in it together. There's nothing stronger...
beautiful post. so glad to read it.
Aww - that is the best perfect moment monday I have heart in a long while!!!
So sweet - so true.
In the very seemingly endless days such as this, yours, before I suddenly and inexplicably became pregnant with the child I was told and the evidence showed I could not ever have was concieved, at times my Ed would say something like that- as if though there was no doubt in his mind that we would be parents no matter the path we had to take to arrive in that wonderful place.
I wish you every single blessing that is left for me to wish for where the gift of a child is concerned.
Your entries have touched my heart, opened my head and never failed to remind me that there are still wonderful things yet to come in this world for people I don't even know...
Sometimes our great guys say the most sweet perfect thing at the most unsuspecting time and we love them all the more because of these tiny moments. I am so glad you have one of the great guys!
Sniff, sniff. That was the sweetest story, definitely a moment to cherish.
That made my heart warm. You'll be such wonderful parents, both of you--he's absolutely right!
What a sweetheart, so glad you have each other.
Love this story. It's so great when the hope comes shining through that way. You will be a great mom- and what a great future dad you've got there.
That is the neatest thing I have read all week. So sweet!
This was great in showing that even though it never goes away, there are moments where there's other happiness. You two are really good together:-)
I LOVED this post. I want a moment like that too. I am so glad you had it. Things like that are precious.
And I just loved the image of you ranting in the car together. I have a feeling I could fit in with your family. ;)
What a hubby! Thanks for sharing.
